The small, intimate town with big city sophistication, Delray Beach is located along the east coast of South Florida about an hour north of Miami. The warm and friendly atmosphere is home to many, but also a vacation hotspot for visitors from all of the world. The exciting and elegant Delray has been rated "Most Fun Small Town" by Rand McNally, USA Today and the Travel Channel, and was also listed in the top 10 of Coastal Living's "Happiest Seaside Towns."
Settlers originally arrived to Delray Beach in the late 1800s with the intentions to farm, as they heard about impressive soil and water. "Adventurous souls who battled the heat ... and snakes," the Delray Beach Historical Society calls them. Pineapple fields, tomatoes, even flowers become prosperous in the uncharted area. In 1911, the town of Delray was incorporated and the land west of the Intracoastal was named Delray Beach in 1923. These two areas merged to from the city of Delray Beach in 1927.

Every Saturday from 9am to 2pm, the community of Delray gathers at the GreenMarket at Old School Square Park, right off of Atlantic Avenue. Walk through the various stands at the open air marketplace and embrace the small town charm with its live musical entertainment. This market began in 1996 by the Community Redevelopment Agency, and has since become one of the most popular aspects in the town. You'll find more than 65 vendors that will greet you with a warm smile.
