Being stuck at home during quarantine isn’t always fun, but you easily can make it a bit more interesting by trying out new things and finding new hobbies. If you’re not sure where to start, check out this list of 5 fun activities that you can try when you’re bored and have no idea what to do.

1. Baking

You probably already noticed that almost everyone’s been baking more ever since the quarantine’s started. Why? It’s a productive way to use your free time. Plus, you can eat your final product as a reward.

It’s hard to get tired of baking because there’s so many different recipes that you can try. From cookies to muffins to cakes, the list can go on forever. All you have to do is find a recipe that you want to try to make, gather the necessary ingredients and tools, and start baking.

Since there are people with different skill levels when it comes to baking, it may be difficult to choose what exactly is the best fit. Here is a list of recipes categorized by skill level. If you’re new to baking, then you can take this time to gradually improve to the advanced level. Once you successfully make something, you’ll probably want to bake more. And even if you don’t succeed, you can always try again. It’ll be hard to resist the smell of sweetness.

2. Indoor photoshoot

Photoshoots don’t always have to be done by professionals at a studio or out in beautiful natural environments. Now is the perfect time to test out your own photography skills, and your home is the place to play around in. Grab your finest clothes, or even your old clothes, and build a couple of outfits. You can stick to a theme or go wild and wear them mismatched. It doesn’t matter because you get to decide what you want to do with those pictures in the end.

If you’re not a professional photographer but want to have a fancier photoshoot, you can check this list for some creative ideas that you can try at home. Some require props, but most of them are simple objects that you can probably find around your home.

Once you finish taking your pictures during your photoshoot, you can edit them however you’d like. For example, you can use free photo editing apps like PicsArt, or if you know how to use Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom, then you can use those. Be creative with your photos. They could end up looking nice enough for you to want to post.

3. Scrapbooking

Speaking of photos, scrapbooking is another way you can save those memories. Not only does it kill time, but it also gives you the opportunity to look back through your precious moments in life. Of course, having a copy of all your photos may be enough, but gathering them and making a physical memory book that you can flip through can be a totally different experience.

You can start by creating a scrapbook of all the pictures that you took during quarantine. Think of any photoshoots you may have done or even the times when you took random selfies just because you were bored. Choose your best or favorite photos and print them out.

Scrapbooking isn’t just about the photos. It’s also about the decorations. This is a great way to test your creativity. The main material that you’ll need is a scrapbook, and the rest is up to you. Michael’s has a lot of nice decorating materials like stickers and construction paper, but you can go to any local arts and crafts store if you find something you want to add to your scrapbook. You can also go on Amazon and have them ship your decorations. Again, be creative and have fun with it.

4. Karaoke

Karaoke is a popular and active form of entertainment. Fortunately, the karaoke room can be the living room or even your bedroom. You’ll just need a few things to get you started.

For the full karaoke experience, you’ll first need a mic, and it doesn’t have to be a real one. You’ll also need YouTube to be able to play on your TV screen, so you can play your songs. If you have an HDMI cord, you can plug in your phone or laptop and play from there.

Let’s say you don’t want to set anything up. You can still sing your heart out and have a good time. Open up YouTube on your laptop and sing in bed. You don’t have to move around if you prefer not to.

Karaoke is a fun experience because you get to sing your favorite songs. For those who don’t know what songs to sing, here is a list of popular karaoke songs organized by category. Don’t worry if you can’t sing. No one’s supposed to judge you. But do be cautious of being too loud if you live in an apartment. Your neighbors will hear you and will probably complain whether you can or can’t sing.

5. Vlogging

Have you ever thought about becoming a YouTuber? Well, now is your chance. If you ever decide to try any of the activities mentioned above, vlogging can be a fun way to capture those interesting moments.

The convenient part about vlogging is that you don’t need a fancy camera to film with. There are laptops with webcams that can record videos. In addition, every smartphone comes with a camera app that allows you to take videos. As long as you have a smartphone, you can vlog anytime and anywhere.

There are plenty of other things you can vlog about besides the fun activities that you do when you’re bored. If you look at this list of vlog ideas to try, you’ll see that you can film a simple vlog of you just sitting down and talking about yourself. It doesn’t have to be super interesting, especially if you don’t plan on posting it.

Vlogging, like scrapbooking, is a memory keeping activity. In the future, you’ll watch those videos and remember the things you did and the time you had. In a way, this can be a preservation of your own unique history, so take this time to make your history a special one that you’ll find worth re-watching.
